September 2002
After an unforeseeable august for what concerns the weather, at last the sun has come: and we take advantage with the harvest.
As the days pass the situation is getting even more interesting.
This will be a great vintage for the late harvested white grapes.

July 2002
I'm very confident of the perspectives of the 2002 vintage.
The management of the vineyards is getting even better, the technical choices are bearing fruit, very good is the interaction between the technical and the agricultural staff.
In the months of May and June we had a thermic average, which was superior than the one of the same months of the last year; this means that there has been an advance of 5/6 days of the spring vegetative phases.
The rain at the end of June and during this month, has guaranteed the right humidity of the soil, and has settled the basis for the "up and down" effect: the difference of temperature between day and night that exalts the sugar ripeness together with the aromas one.
So, while everybody is going on holiday...
...we sunbathe in the vineyards!!!

May 2002
The last spring appointment, besides the cleaning and the lopping of the sprouts, it's the coming out of the Traditional Wines 2001.
These wines are simple but important because they show our philosophy in a simple way and are the first taste of the 2001 vintage.
Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Tocai are wines with a notable balance and personality.

April 2002
The Vinitaly has every year more producers and visitors, and is still the most important event in the world of oenology after “Vinexpo”.
For Lis Neris it has been a success, with 4500 – 5000 tastings: an important number if you consider the dimension of our stand.
In the same days of the fair, the press has been very kind with us, with flattering photos and comments:
Gambero Rosso - 04/2002 - "Gli Isonzo boys"
Vinum (CH) - 04/2002 - "85 Top Italiener"
Feinschmecker (D) - 04/2002 - "Lis un campione di finezza"

March 2002
Dear friends,
Spring's coming, the bracing air, the sun that warms are welcome!
It's like it's the first time!!
There's an important novelty: we bought 8 Ha in the Gris area: we're planting 6 of these hectares, obviously with Pinot Grigio.
Next appointment is at the VINITALY (Verona 11-15 April 2002 pavilion 15 E/7) with the tasting of the white Traditionals'01 (tank samples) a great occasion to know how good these wines are.
Happy Easter,

March 2002
On the 28th of February the famous British journalist Jancis Robinson on the web site www.jancisrobinson.com , has written about our GRIS 2000 in her survey "The Wine of the Week":
"...If you're anything like me, Pinot Grigio is a name associated with tart Italian whites of virtually no flavour or colour and occasionally just a wiff of paint-stripper. But we're way out of date, of course. There are some lovely, genuinely fruity and/or smoky examples but this GRIS is the most opulent example I have come across..."

February...the month of our most important wines!!!
LIS 2000 (Pinot Grigio – Chardonnay – Sauvignon)
There are no fixed percentualities for this blend: every vintage has a different balancing point, and every balance has different premises.
Thanks to the most representative white vines fermented and matured in tonneau barrels, we want to consolidate our winery style.
This important wine, that resumes the productive philosophy, is able to express the balance between vineyards and place of production, the real importance of a wine.
CONFINI 2000 (Pinot Grigio 50% - Traminer 30% - Riesling 20%)
Pinot Grigio is the most important vine of this wine: infact it gives structure , width, softness and warmth.
Traminer is important for the aromas, and Riesling to reach the right acidity balance and to exalt the gustative complexity.
Of the three vines only the first two, which are also fermented and matured in oak barrels, are late harvested .
We need three different vines to have such a unique wine, which is the product of the combination of mediterranean and northern tastes.
LIS NERIS 1999 (Merlot – Cabernet Sauvignon)
A new vineyard for this Merlot 95%.
The vines are French with early maturation and the training system is bilateral Guyot.
The grapes are nearer to the soil to exploit not only the direct warmth but the one in return too.
We tried to recreate a Southerner microclimate to develop the sweetness and the deepness of the fruit in this wine, that in the past, as usually happens in Friuli, used to express with too much coldness and strictness.
